Ryanair Baggage Fees (2026)
Ryanair bag fees from the official Table of Fees (opened 2026-09-17): small bag free; Priority, 10kg, 20kg, 23kg are route-dated ranges. Plus ≠ 10kg cabin bag. Excess €/£13 per extra kilo.
Quick answer
Ryanair’s small bag (40 × 30 × 20 cm) is free on every fare. A 10kg overhead cabin bag is paid unless Regular / Flexi Plus / Time Saver (or Priority & 2 Cabin Bags add-on) already covers it. Plus includes a 20kg check-in bag, not the trolley. Hold bags are 10kg, 20kg (up to 3), or 23kg (1, booking-time only). Prices are €/£ ranges by route and date, usually cheaper at booking than post-booking or airport. Live Table of Fees (2026-09-17): Priority €/£12.49–36 at booking; 10kg €/£10.49–44.99; 20kg €/£21.49–59.99; 23kg €/£28.99–80.99; excess €/£13 per extra kilo at airport. Gate and bag-drop walk-up cost more (see table). Always re-check ryanair.com fees for your dates.

Pooling: Yes, between passengers with check-in bags on the same reservation. Official example: two 20kg bags (40kg total) can be 15kg + 25kg. No bag > 32kg.
Refunds: Cannot remove cabin or check-in bags for a refund once purchased.
Add later: My Bookings bags/seats up to 2 hours before scheduled departure (fare-bundle follow-on article). 10kg check-in: website 2 hours, app 40 minutes (DAC 3.2). 23kg cannot be added later.
Priority sold out: 10kg check-in remains (hold).
Express Bag Drop: if you purchased checked luggage with a standard fare or fare bundle, you may use Express Bag Drop free (Flexi Plus desk) on selected routes; must cover all check-in bags on the booking; not Erasmus / connections / Spanish subsidised (DAC 3.5). Confirm availability for your route.
Airports where excess cannot be bought online (Help Centre, non-exhaustive “included but not limited to”): Milan Bergamo, Birmingham, Bologna, Bristol, Cardiff, Dublin, Edinburgh, Krakow, Leeds Bradford, Manchester, Naples, Newcastle, London Stansted — pay at airport check-in desk.
Gotchas
- Plus is a hold bag, not a cabin trolley. Highest-intent fee trap: Plus ≠ 10kg overhead.
- Ranges, not a single price. Peak, route, and when you add the bag all move the number inside the band. Confirm on the Table of Fees for your dates.
- 23kg is booking-only. Miss it at checkout → 20kg + excess, not a 23kg add-on.
- Gate is the expensive path. Unpaid 10kg / oversize 55×40×20 at gate is not the same as bag-drop €/£35.99.
- Help Centre 80×120×120 vs T&C 81×119×119 — footnote both; don’t flatten.
- Bags not refundable once purchased.
- Check-in bag at the gate still incurs a per-bag hold fee even if you already paid to check it (you skipped bag drop).
- VAT on listed domestic EU routes.
- T&C €6 Priority / €35.99–60 gate can disagree with the live fees table. Prefer the fees table for £/€ on this leaf.
- Family Plus 10kg is check-in, not cabin 10kg.
Traveler caution: Buy the bag when you buy the seat when you can. Gate and walk-up prices sit higher on the Table of Fees. Re-check ryanair.com for your route and dates before you fly.

FAQ
How much is a Ryanair checked bag?
Official Table of Fees (opened 2026-09-17) publishes ranges, not one nationwide price, per one-way flight, by route and travel dates: 10kg €/£10.49–44.99 at booking (€/£24–75 later); 20kg €/£21.49–59.99 at booking (€/£39.99–75 later); 23kg €/£28.99–80.99 at booking (€/£54–97 later). Airport bag-drop walk-up if nothing is on the booking: 10kg €/£35.99, 20kg €/£59.99. Confirm on ryanair.com for your dates.
Does Ryanair charge for a cabin bag?
The small 40 × 30 × 20 cm bag is free. The 10kg 55 × 40 × 20 cm overhead bag is a Priority & 2 Cabin Bags product (€/£12.49–36 at booking; €/£19.99–45.50 later) unless Regular / Flexi Plus / Time Saver already includes it.
Does Plus include cabin baggage?
Plus includes the free small bag and one 20kg check-in bag. It does not include the paid 10kg overhead cabin bag.
What is Ryanair’s excess / overweight fee?
€/£13 per extra kilo at the airport / call centre / kiosk (Table of Fees; DAC Regulations 3.4). Help Centre: no item over 32 kg (mobility excepted). Some airports cannot sell excess online (list in Gotchas).
Can I share bag weight with my family?
Yes, if you have check-in bags on the same booking. Official example: two 20kg bags can be split 15kg + 25kg. No single bag over 32kg.
Can I add a 23kg bag after I booked?
No. DAC Regulations 3.3: the 23kg item is only available at the time of booking and cannot be purchased after the initial booking is finalised. You can still add 20kg or 10kg later within the published windows, or pay €/£13/kg excess at the airport.
