Ryanair Baggage Fees (2026)

Ryanair’s small bag (40 × 30 × 20 cm) is free on every fare. A 10kg overhead cabin bag is paid unless Regular, Flexi Plus or Time Saver (or the Priority and 2 Cabin Bags add-on) already covers it. Plus includes a 20kg check-in bag, not the trolley. Hold bags are 10kg, 20kg (up to 3), or 23kg (1, booking time only). Prices are € or £ ranges by route and date, usually cheaper at booking than after booking or at the airport. VAT: the fees page header says fees are subject to VAT on Italian, Bulgarian, French, German, Greek, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Spanish and Swedish domestic routes at applicable government rates.

Pooling: Yes, between passengers with check-in bags on the same reservation. Official example: two 20kg bags (40kg total) can be 15kg and 25kg. No bag over 32kg.
Refunds: Cannot remove cabin or check-in bags for a refund once purchased.
Add later: bags and seats in My Bookings up to 2 hours before scheduled departure (Help Centre fare bundle article). 10kg check-in: website 2 hours, app 40 minutes (Regulations 3.2). 23kg cannot be added later.
Priority sold out: the 10kg check-in bag is still available (hold).
Express Bag Drop: if you purchased checked luggage with a standard fare or fare bundle, you may use Express Bag Drop free (Flexi Plus desk) on selected routes; it must cover all check-in bags on the booking; not for Erasmus, connecting flights or Spanish subsidised fares (Conditions of Carriage 3.5). Confirm availability for your route.

• Plus is a hold bag, not a cabin trolley. Common fee mistake: Plus is not the 10kg overhead bag.

• Ranges, not a single price. Peak dates, route, and when you add the bag all move the price within the range. Check the Table of Fees for your dates.

• 23kg is booking-only. Miss it at checkout and you get 20kg plus excess, not a 23kg add-on.

• The gate is the most expensive option. An unpaid 10kg or oversize (over 55×40×20) bag at the gate costs more than the €35.99 or £35.99 bag-drop price.

• The Help Centre lists hold max size as 80×120×120; Conditions of Carriage 3.8 prints 81×119×119. Both figures appear, so we show both.

• Bags not refundable once purchased.

• Check-in bag at the gate still incurs a per-bag hold fee even if you already paid to check it (you skipped bag drop).

• VAT on listed domestic EU routes.

• Priority and gate minimums in the Conditions of Carriage can differ from the current fees table. This page uses the fees table for £ and € prices.

• Family Plus 10kg is check-in, not cabin 10kg.

• Ryanair does not publish a size for the 10kg Check-in Bag (the Help Centre size articles cover only the 20kg and 23kg bags); measure to the bag type you bought and check at bag drop.

• Express Bag Drop is for “selected routes only.” The list of airports where you cannot buy excess online is “not limited to” the airports named.

How much is a Ryanair checked bag?
Ryanair’s Table of Fees publishes ranges, not one nationwide price, per one-way flight, by route and travel dates: 10kg €10.49 to €44.99 or £10.49 to £44.99 at booking (€24 to €75 or £24 to £75 later); 20kg €21.49 to €59.99 or £21.49 to £59.99 at booking (€39.99 to €75 or £39.99 to £75 later); 23kg €28.99 to €80.99 or £28.99 to £80.99 at booking (€54 to €97 or £54 to £97 later). Does Ryanair charge for a cabin bag?
The small 40 × 30 × 20 cm bag is free. The 10kg 55 × 40 × 20 cm overhead bag is a Priority and 2 Cabin Bags product (€12.49 to €36 or £12.49 to £36 at booking; €19.99 to €45.50 or £19.99 to £45.50 later) unless Regular, Flexi Plus or Time Saver already includes it.

Does Plus include cabin baggage?
Plus includes the free small bag and one 20kg check-in bag. It does not include the paid 10kg overhead cabin bag.

What is Ryanair’s excess or overweight fee?
€13 or £13 per extra kilo at the airport, call centre or kiosk (Table of Fees; Regulations 3.4 in the Conditions of Carriage). Help Centre: no item over 32 kg (mobility equipment excepted). Some airports cannot sell excess online; the list is in the Gotchas section below.

Can I share bag weight with my family?
Yes, if you have check-in bags on the same booking. Official example: two 20kg bags can be split 15kg and 25kg. No single bag over 32kg.

Can I add a 23kg bag after I booked?
No. Ryanair’s Regulations 3.3: the 23kg item is only available at the time of booking and cannot be purchased after the initial booking is finalised. You can still add 20kg or 10kg later within the published windows, or pay €13 or £13 per kg excess at the airport.
