About BagRule

BagRule is an independent guide to US airline bag rules. We cover carry-on sizes, personal-item limits, and baggage fees for 12 US airlines, each with official source links and a last-verified date. We do not sell tickets or bags. Airline rules change — always confirm on the airline’s site before you fly.

How we check sources

  1. Open the airline’s official baggage / carry-on / fare pages (and newsroom posts when fees change by ticket-issue date).
  2. Record only what the airline publishes: L×W×H, linear limits, weight (or “not published”), free vs paid by fare, gate fees when stated.
  3. Link those official URLs on the page under Last verified.
  4. When an airline does not publish inches (example: Delta / Southwest / Alaska / Hawaiian personal items = under seat only), we say not published — we never copy another airline’s box onto that row.
  5. ULCC checked and carry-on prices that are route- or timing-based stay labeled dynamic — we do not invent a flat table.

Update cadence

  • We re-check a page when we refresh that airline’s content pack, when GSC or readers flag a change, or when an airline announces a fee/size update.
  • The Last verified date is the day we last opened the linked official sources for that page. It is not a promise that nothing changed since.
  • Sitemap lastmod should move only when page content actually ships.

What we never invent

  • Dimensions the airline does not publish
  • Flat ULCC checked-bag dollar tables when the airline prices by route / purchase timing
  • Spirit Airlines (out of scope for this site)
  • “Guaranteed to fit” claims for any retail bag
  • Gate fees or Basic Economy rules that are not on the official page we cite

Accountability / contact

Found an outdated fee or size? Email info@bagrule.com with the page URL and the official airline link. We correct from the official source, not from blogs.

Affiliate links (when present) are disclosed on Affiliate disclosure. BagRule is not affiliated with any airline.

FAQ

Is BagRule affiliated with the airlines?
No. We are an independent publisher. Confirm every size and fee on the airline’s own site before travel.
What does “Last verified” mean?
The date we last checked the official source links shown on that page. It does not freeze airline policy after that date.
Why do some personal-item rows say “not published”?
Delta, Southwest, Alaska, and Hawaiian require under-seat fit and do not publish L×W×H. Treat blog-invented inches as unofficial — they are not airline policy.
Why aren’t some ULCC checked fees a simple table?
Carriers like Frontier, Allegiant, Avelo, Breeze, and Sun Country often price bags by route and when you buy. We label that dynamic instead of inventing fixed dollars.
Which airlines does BagRule cover?
Twelve US airlines listed on /airlines/ — American, Delta, United, Southwest, Alaska, JetBlue, Frontier, Allegiant, Hawaiian, Sun Country, Avelo, and Breeze. Spirit is not covered.
