easyJet Personal Item Size (2026)

easyJet’s free “personal item” is officially the small under-seat cabin bag: max 45 × 36 × 20 cm including any handles and wheels, must fit under the seat in front of you, max 15 kg, lift and carry yourself. It is free on every fare, including Standard. Examples on the cabin-bags page include a small trolley case, handbag, rucksack, or laptop bag, if they meet the cm limit. It is not the large cabin bag (56 × 45 × 25 cm); that needs Inclusive Plus, easyJet Plus, or a paid add-on. Pack essentials here. On Standard this may be your only cabin piece. Confirm sizes on easyjet.com before you fly.

Wheels and handles: Count toward 45 × 36 × 20 cm.

| easyJet Plus | Free | Included (add with membership number) | Per booking | | Large cabin bag add-on | Free (still) | Paid, then included | None |

There is no paid upgrade that enlarges this under-seat bag. Money buys the large cabin bag or hold bags.
On Standard, if you skip the large bag, this is your only cabin piece. Pack meds, docs, valuables and chargers here.

---

• This is not the 56×45×25 trolley. Standard flyers with a full-size cabin suitcase fail the gauge.

• Handles and wheels count on the 45 × 36 × 20 box.

• 15 kg is real. Blogs that say “unlimited cabin weight” are out of date.

• Soft bags expand. Measure packed.

• Ryanair 40×30×20 is not easyJet. Different airline, different free bag.

• British Airways 40×30×15 is not easyJet.

• Trunki exception is product-specific on the children page, not a general “46 cm is fine.”

• Airport shopping bag is an extra handheld, not a loophole for a second suitcase.

• Fail the gate check and the bag goes in the hold with a fee (easyJet publishes £60 for a large cabin bag at the gate).

• Restricted seats may force under-seat items into the locker for take-off and landing. Still your free bag. FAQs state the rule without a full seat map; check your seat type on easyjet.com.

Traveler caution: On Standard, the free bag is under the seat: 45 by 36 by 20, wheels in. If it only fits the overhead, you need the large cabin bag product. Confirm on easyjet.com before you fly.

What is the easyJet personal item size?
Official name: small under-seat cabin bag. Max 45 × 36 × 20 cm including any handles and wheels, under the seat, 15 kg, free on every fare (easyJet cabin bags page).

Does easyJet Standard include only a personal item?
Yes for cabin: Standard is the flight plus this small under-seat bag. The overhead large cabin bag is extra (or included with Inclusive Plus or easyJet Plus).

Can I bring a backpack as my easyJet personal item?
Yes if it fits 45 × 36 × 20 cm including handles and wheels and goes under the seat. Official examples include a rucksack. Dimensions still rule.

Is there a weight limit for the easyJet under-seat bag?
15 kg, and you must lift and carry it yourself.

What happens if my free bag is too big?
easyJet checks sizes before boarding. Over the maximum, or a large bag without entitlement, goes to the hold and charges apply. easyJet’s Fees and Charges and cabin bags pages give £60 at the boarding gate for an unentitled large cabin bag. Measure before you travel; buy the large cabin bag or a hold bag online if needed.

Do infants get a personal item?
Lap infant: extra baby changing bag max 45 × 36 × 20 cm under the seat. Infant with own seat and children 2 and over: same cabin rules as adults (plus the changing bag rules on the children page).
