Europe (short-haul) — fare trap

• Plus / Advantage / AerSpace (and listed exceptions below): 10 kg carry-on onboard included; the free drop-off option does not apply, so take it on board.
• Saver (no onboard entitlement): you may still travel with a 10 kg bag, but it must be dropped at check-in free of charge. Bring a 10 kg bag to the boarding gate without entitlement and you pay €35 to place it in the hold.
• Exceptions that get onboard 10 kg even when not Plus/Advantage: AerClub Silver / Platinum / Concierge (member only, not companions); Economy fares purchased via British Airways; accompanying adult with an infant; customers connecting to/from an Aer Lingus transatlantic flight or a connecting flight with an interline partner.

North America (transatlantic)

All customers may take a 10 kg carry-on onboard (overhead, subject to availability) plus the small personal item under the seat. No Saver free-drop / €35 gate split is published in the North America carry-on section of the same modal.

Aer Lingus Regional (Emerald, EI 3000–3999)

From 3 March 2026, Aer Lingus extends the 10 kg / 55 × 40 × 24 cm carry-on policy across Regional (press release 18–19 Feb 2026). Saver = pay to take onboard or check free; Plus/Advantage = free onboard 10 kg. Pre-change Regional used a smaller/lighter allowance on some pages (48 × 33 × 20 cm / 7 kg on UAT extracts).
