Qantas measures carry-on height × width × depth including wheels and packed-away handles.

Bag types (all routes):

• Overhead bag (e.g. small wheelie): 56 cm (22 in) H × 36 cm (14 in) W × 23 cm (9 in) D
• Underseat bag (e.g. small duffle, backpack, large handbag): 34 cm (13 in) H × 48 cm (18 in) W × 23 cm (9 in) D
• Personal item (under the seat in front): 1 small item. Official examples: 1 cross-body bag, 1 small handbag, or 1 laptop in a slim bag. No centimetre limit is printed on the carry-on page opened 2026-09-17; confirm on qantas.com if your itinerary page adds dims. A laptop in a large laptop bag counts as carry-on, not the personal item.
• Non-rigid garment bag: 114 × 60 × 11 cm (44 × 23 × 4 in); counts toward carry-on allowance.

Domestic (Australia): Economy and Business

1 overhead + 1 underseat + 1 personal item. Total weight 14 kg (30 lb), max 10 kg (22 lb) per item.

Dash 8 (QantasLink Q400): 1 overhead + 1 personal item only; 7 kg (15 lb) max. Small wheelies often do not fit overhead; they may be collected at boarding and returned on arrival.

International: by cabin

Flights departing India: 1 overhead only. Economy 7 kg, Business 10 kg. Official wording: additional personal items aren’t permitted on these flights.

Connecting domestic + international / partner: pack to the lowest allowance on the journey (especially Dash 8).

Over the limit: Qantas says you’ll need to check it in. Checked baggage is included on Qantas flights (see fees sibling). Confirm live on qantas.com before you fly.
